Greetings in the precious name of our God and Saviour, Jesus Christ! To everyone I say, “Happy New Year” and welcome to Zion Pentecostal Church of Christ.
As some of you are aware I enjoy delving into the study of numbers, and each New Year brings new insight. I began to look at the Biblical numerology table for the number 13, as it related to this new year of 2013. I was not too keen on what the #13 represented, so much so that I didn’t want to even declare it in this church setting so I chose, instead, to speak on the sum of the numbers of the year 2013, which equals the #6. Many know that the #6 represents man, or mankind. One theologian noted that it symbolizes a constant battle between man’s spirit and his flesh.
In Genesis 1:26-27 God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created he him, male and female created he them.” And God blessed them! A little later it states that God saw every thing that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
God’s creation….man. Psalms 8:4 declares, “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? The New Living Translation words it like this: When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers— the moon and the stars you set in place— what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? Yet you made them only a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority— the flocks and the herds and all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and everything that swims the ocean currents. O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
I challenge you to declare and decree that this year of 2013 will be a re-creation of your sixth day. Remember who created you and in whose image and likeness you were made. Remember that He stated that you, His creation, were very good. Remember that He gave you dominion over everything that He made, and put all things under your authority. Remember that He blessed you! This year is your Sixth Day!
On behalf of our Pastor, the Honorable Bishop C. Wayne Brantley, myself, and the entire Zion Family, Happy New Year, and welcome to Zion!
